Fun Halloween Symmetry Drawing Activity for Kids

If your kids love Halloween as much as mine does, they’ll love this free Halloween printable! My son is obsessed with pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns, and this “Finish the Pumpkin” symmetry drawing activity has quickly become one of his favorites.

Normally, he isn’t super excited about practicing drawing or fine-motor skills—but something about Halloween makes it way more fun! Because he loves Halloween he will now finally focus at this type of task!

This Halloween symmetry worksheet is a great way to sneak in a little art and geometry practice while keeping the holiday excitement going. This way he practices:
1. Symmetry
2. Observation skills
3. Hand-eye coordination

I’ve made two versions, one with just the symmetry task and one with a small example at the bottom.

Simply download the free printable you like, grab a pencil or crayons, and let your child mirror the pumpkin to make it whole. It’s a perfect quiet activity for home, classrooms, or Halloween parties.

Parent tip: Sit beside your child, encourage them to take their time, and celebrate small improvements. You can also talk about where you see symmetry around you — in windows, leaves, or even spiderwebs!

Extra fun idea: Expand the drawing if you like, maybe even add some glitter. Or even cut it out! This makes the activity feel more creative and festive and something to be proud of.

I hope you enjoy!
With love,
Romina

P.S. If you have a child-friendly mirror, they can use it to see how the other half should look. It is a fun and hands-on way to teach symmetry that my son absolutely loves. Symmetry is all around us — in nature, architecture, and even in our faces! Helping kids notice symmetry in everyday life makes this activity even more meaningful (and fun!).

PPS: If you are looking for some fun Halloween themed books, that will probably be my next post! So stay tuned 🙂
