I love new beginnings, a fresh start, a blank slate. And I also hate clutter. The thing is I have clutter, a lot of it actually. I share my small(ish) home with my husband, toddler and pets. Things accumalate, things don’t get put back. That’s how life goes, even if you are uptight about clutter and love to live in a clean home.

Therefore today I am sharing with you 5 things to declutter before 2023. It’s not a whole home reset, or going to change your life drastically. But it’s just a little push in the right direction, and I will be doing it with you! So don’t think these things are perfect in my home, this is an actual list of thing I MYSELF NEED TO DECLUTTER. Hopefully it helps you too!

1. Kids toys

By now you are aware of what your kiddos are going to get for Christmas, and what can leave your home. It can even be a valuable moment to teach your children about donating and/or recycling. Discard broken toys (or fix!), rehome, donate, recycle. Also a wonderful time to get rid of that horrible toy you hate and your child plays with like once a month. Just a tip!

2. Saved kids clothes

This one takes some time but the pay off will be huge! As a boy mom, most of the clothes he had were pretty neutral and basic. And I only kept the things I absolutely loved and were in good conditin. But guess what? When I went through it again, there was so much that I just didn’t like anymore. Your style changes so don’t think all those cute baby clothes in storage are still your cup of tea. Donate them, there are so many kids in need of new clothes during winter!

3. Pots and pans

On my most adventurous cooking days I still only use a max of 4 pans. I only have 4 burners, so that also limits the amount of pans of course. Now I am not saying to only own 4 pans, but consider what you actually use! I have 2 fry pens, 2 sauce pans, 2 small pots, one medium pot, one large and a dutch oven. That’s still 9 pots/pans! But I used to own about 20. Now decide what YOU actually use on a daily basis.

4. Pantry

Donate food that is still good to eat, share your spices with friends or family. Use up the things that are almost empty and tidy it! Also discard random tupperware lids, glass jars that you’ve been keeping but haven’t used (guilty!). You will start 2023 fresh! Also will save you some money in this expensive month of festivities ✨.

5. Skincare/Bath products

Check the little jar icon on the back, which indicates the shelf life. And be honest, if you are barely using it AND it has reached its shelf life. Just get rid of it. The product won’t be as potent anymore or could even be harmful! Also get rid of the testers you’ve been keeping for trips, you know when you decide to just bring your favourite instead of testers… Maybe friends or family will use them. Just so you know I found a tiny shampoo that I have been keeping for 3,5 years. I even took it with me when I moved!! I started using it today…..

While this is of course not all that needs decluttering, dor me these things really help me from day to day if they are tidy/kept up with.

I hope this helps! Don’t forget to enjoy the last few weeks of this year, in all the busyness.

With love, Romina
